Children Education in Early Stage of Age-Based Construction of Integrative Curriculum (Part 1)

Prof Madya Dr. Mastura Badzis, Director, Development Research Center of Children (NCDRC) Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia (Vice President Helwa)

Preliminary

Education is an important platform to generate a paradigm shift in each individual and it also plays an important role in the delivery of human deductive dynamic in all aspects of life. Generally speaking, education is always associated with the process of teaching and learning a skill, presentation and implementation of knowledge. In the form of practical, results of education should be to produce students who can apply the knowledge they have learned and utilize the skills possessed in daily life. In the context of children, education must be viewed as an ongoing process developed concurrently with the development of the individual is a child who learned anything in the environment and the 'science' or gained skills that they will apply it in a different context, whether in life daily at that time or as preparation for life in the future (Department of Education and Science, 1990).

In other words, all that is seen and heard by a child from an educational environment which is as real for children in early age, they can not differentiate between good and bad. West and Islam have the same perspective in this case, the child should be formed and trained from the beginning. What distinguishes Islam emphasizes character building is a child's behavior is not only physically, but stabilization of manners should be implemented along with the application of faith in the spirit and soul.

If any information received by a child is only in the level of knowledge without the inculcation of the faith and strengthening of manners, it is certainly exhausted appreciation value of parched and application process can not be translated in the form of a perfect civilization. Consequently, the generation that made possible the high level of wisdom and intellectual development, but 'high performance' is in fact a narrow scope that is only based on academic achievement, while the height of the other aspects it is biased and has no balance.

So if this is what happened in the world of education today, this means that education fails to generate a paradigm shift in the cells of each individual, and he feared a long history will be repeated. Analysis of the facts from a historical perspective has simply proved that the destruction of human civilization such as Egypt, Greece, Rome and Persia is due to the failure of the application of moral values manners to the generation of successors and exhausted appreciation for application in life.
